What is a yearbook?

The Yearbook highlights projects that demonstrate quality and imagination, and shows how designers today respond to contemporary challenges. Its goal is to provide an overview of the most significant developments in Flemish design culture.

It also serves as a starting point for in-depth conversations on content and policy. In this way, the Yearbook is not only a record of strong design practices but also an invitation to reflection and dialogue.

Open call for design projects

Are you involved in a strong design project? Share your work with us. Selected projects will each be featured across two pages in the publication.

We welcome projects from all disciplines of the design sector: material (industrial product, jewelry, furniture, ceramics, glass, collectibles, textiles, etc.), immaterial (social, service, experience, etc.), spatial (scenography, lighting, interior design, etc.), and graphic (graphic design, illustration, digital, etc.).

The list is not limitative.

What do we offer?

  • A platform: Your work will be published in a high-quality yearbook, designed by a leading graphic designer. We plan to publish yearbooks in 2026 (this call), 2027, and 2028.
  • A reference work: The Yearbook will serve as an important reference document for future cultural design research and design policy. It will be around 200 pages and will be available in bookstores across the country.
  • Networking opportunities: The publication will be launched with a book presentation and networking session.

Practical information

  • We are looking for professional design projects, design research, or objects (no graduation projects).
  • Projects must have a clear link to Flanders (including Brussels) and be definitively realized (delivered, launched, produced, or published) in 2024 or 2025. Projects without a Flemish link, or projects still in concept or development, are not eligible.
  • If selected, a professional editor will draft a catalog note based on the submitted material. We will contact selected applicants during the winter to verify the final publication material. It is important that you are available for this process.
  • We ask designers to submit via this open call, but the jury may also autonomously propose extra projects for this first edition.

Deadline for submissions: October 26, 2025, 10pm

Selection: by an independent jury in November 2025

Publication: early October 2026

What to submit?

  • Four publishable hi-res photos (min. 300 dpi) for final use in the publication. You must hold the copyright or provide rights-free material with proper credits. The quality of the photos will be considered in the selection process.
  • A project description and argumentation of around 250 words. Pay attention to the urgency of the project, its relevance to your sub-discipline, and the originality of the concept.
  • A short CV or portfolio as a designer (PDF format).

How to participate?

Project submissions can be made via this link. You may submit as many projects as you wish, using a new form for each. We look forward to your contribution in creating an inspiring and insightful yearbook that elevates our design culture.

Note: A parallel open call for essays is also running. More information here.
